An uncomfortable book casts long shadows over Denmark
Yesterday, on may 28th 2009, the infamous Cannibal children's book, Father’s Big Secret, was published by forlaget Torgard in Copenhagen. The danish translation of Fars store hemmelighed, is by Birgir Thor Møller.
Father’s Big Secret was met with great reviews already on it’s first day in Danish bookstores. The children's books website Fortællingen.dk praises it and begs for more:
"... in other words; Leifsson allows himself to wrap a good deal of serious themes in to wild entertainment without being to serious. He does not preach or become boring (…).
All in all, Fathers big secret is a good read with a lot of inspiration for afterthought. Its the icelandic writers first book in danish and hopefully not his last."
The publisher is understandably very pleased with the positive start-kick in Denmark and hungry for more reaction. Rumor has it that one editor of a monthly publication for danish librarians flatly refused to write about Fathers Big Secret. Saying it was "an uncomfortable book".
